I envy talented ppl like this...

While being bored for the last four hours, I decided to look up Ryan Leslie on youtube, because to me, he's the next best thing (R&B wise). So I cam across this really sick video of him, which gives me even more of a reason to believe how amazing and talented this guy is.  This is a video of him, umm, I guess you can say "freestyling?" (piano wise), over Lil' Wayne's Lollipop (a record which I despise)....this video gives me even more of a reason to really appreciate Ryan Leslie as an artist.  He makes a song that is pitiful.... an art piece...check it out:

Then, after I found the Ryan Leslie video, I noticed another guy's video (David Sides), who is also so ridiculously talented, it's disgusting.  This is just one of the many many videos he has posted on youtube. After watching this video, it really made me wonder, how some ppl can just be born with such talent, and how mad and envious I am, that I'm not one of those lucky people. Here's his video:

So this really wouldn't be a Nas posting if I didn't add something that related to Nas. So after, viewing about 80% of David Sides' videos, I decided to start searching for ppl who re-did some of Nas' songs. And voila! here are some that I think are really good:

And this one....

happy mlk day.

Kelis is PREGNANT

According to US Weekly, Kelis already has a small bump, and an insider reports: "its all they talk about.  She is carrying hip hop royalty!...they are so excited."

(According to hollyscoop.com) Another source says: "They've been trying for awhile...I think it finally happened."

Kelis' rep has no comment on this.....and neither will I.  I will keep my personal opinions to myself this time.  Just this one time.

Fear of Mandingo & Livin' It Up

New Nas song "Fear of Mandingo"....produced by Green Lantern & on DJ 31 Degreez new mixtape, Eldorado Black Project.

Originally named, or I should say, the real title of the song is,  "The Fear of the Black Man's Dick," but, to be a little less "explicit" I guess....it was renamed "Fear of Mandingo."
Listen & download here

Another bonus track from the Eldorado mixtape: Nas- Livin' It Up...listen & download here

"Writing In My Book of Rhymes, All The Words Past The Margin"

I was reading Def Jam boards on Nas today, and one of the topics were on Nas' potent verses...there's really so many ill verses from Nas, but these are just some of my favorites:

  • "Hit the earth like a comet, invasion, Nas is like the afrocentric asian, half man half amazing" -It Aint Hard To Tell (Illmatic)
  • "Hip hop was aborted, so Nas brings life back into the embryo" -Queens Get The Money (Untitled)
  • "I rock hoes, ya roc fellas" -Ether (Stillmatic)
  • "I live for street glory, I die for ghetto fame, respect all, fear none, my pride is everything." -My Way (The Lost Tapes)
  • "No ideals original, there's nothing new under the sun, it's never what you do but how it's done, what you base your happiness around, material, women, and large paper, that means you inferior, not major" -No Ideals Original (The Lost Tapes)
  • "Always I'm in some shit, my abdomen is the clip, the barrel is my dick, uncircumcised, pull my skin back and cock me, I bust off when they unlock me." -I Gave You Power (It Was Written)
  • "My first album had no famous guest appearances, the outcome, I'm crowned the best lyricist." Got Yourself A Gun (Stillmatic)
  • "Streets disciple my raps are trifle, I shoot slugs from my brain just like a rifle.....(& the entire first verse)"- Live At The Barbeque (Nas 1st song ever written, I believe its on Main Source: Breaking Atoms Album)

THE LIST GOES ON!

UNOFFICIAL "QUEENS GET THE MONEY" VIDEO

Usually, Im not too fond of unofficial videos on youtube because all it usually is, is the song and random pictures of the artists rotating during the song. But, this video grabbed my attention. The video is 8 minutes, but worth every minute, in the beginning there's an interesting clip of an interview with James Baldwin speaking of the Negro in America....I think Nas would be proud of this....watch:
