Nas at Hammerstein Ballroom NYC 12/26/08
So, the show the other night, was all in all a good performance. I had a pretty decent spot in the audience, (2 ppl in front of me) being that I didn't show up until 2 hours before the doors opened. I love Nas to death, and always will, but this show wasn't nearly the greatest Nas show I been to. This has been about my seventh time seeing Nas perform live, and comparing last night's show to previous shows wasn't comparable. Nas performed for like a hour and twenty minutes, and I hate to say this, but he performed his "cornier" songs, like his singles at the show. He opened the show with his verse from "Do It For Hip Hop," which he forgot the lines to. (lol. oh Nas) But, aside from forgetting his lines, I don't think he should've opened with that song, Nas has sooo many ill songs he could've opened with that are his songs. For example: "Nigger" or "Black Republican." The opening wasn't a banger, in my opinion.
(From Top: Jungle, Busta, Busta & Nas, Nas, AZ)
He performed "I Can," never before have I heard Nas performed this live, yea, that song is cool and meaningful, but for a concert the song wasn't cutting it. He also performed songs like Hero, Sly Fox & Hip Hop Is Dead, which aren't my favorite Nas songs to begin with.
But on the flip side, I give him props for bringing out Large Professor! and performing Live At The Barbeque with him, which was sick! Busta also came out, and re-stated that "Nas is the best MC in the world!" And I'm not making that shit up, (I will post the video from last year and this year of Bust saying his "speech") Jungle, Horse & AZ also performed. Nas & AZ performed Phone Tap & Affirmative Action which was ill too. DJ Green Lantern spinned.
Like I said, not the best Nas performance I been to, which I can't believe I'm evening saying. But everyone has there down days, and this was his down day. Still cant wait to see him again. Up next he will be performing at the Rochester Institute of Technology on 1/23/09.
Nas also said his next concert in NYC will be at Madison Square Garden....thats gonna be one sick show, and I will be front row! Pics I took from the show 12/26:

Nas: Rock The Bells UK (London)
Nas performing One Mic during Rock the Bells in London. To me, One Mic is my favorite Nas song to see performed live. I seen him perform this plenty of times and each time he does it the same way, starting by kneeling and gradually standing as the song peaks... if you never seen him perform One Mic live here it is....
(btw, like 30 seconds of the ending is cut off, a better video will be replaced soon)

Nas and Game have been confirmed to perform at this year's Africa MTV Award Show in Abuja, Nigeria. Zain, a mobile communications company that services 22 countries in Africa and the Middle East, had the idea to bring the 2 MC's together to perform. Zain's Chief Marketing Officer, Norman Mayo says, "The idea of bringing an international rap star like Nas to the awards demonstrates Zain's willingness to always explore the opportunities that will allow for cross cultural experiences..." The Africa MTV Award Show will air Saturday November 22nd throughout Africa.
